A California Highway Patrol officer allegedly rams a motorcyclist

Footage of police pursuit and subsequent injury crash of a motorcyclist in Rancho Cucamonga over Memorial Day Weekend has apparently led California Highway Patrol to initiate an internal investigation into the matter.

Several hundred bikers were reportedly participating in a group ride over the holiday weekend in Inland Empire. Witnesses reported seeing the biker being pursued on an adjoining freeway just moments before many of them came to a stop at a nearby stop light.

As the group ride bikers waited at that intersection on the light, they noted seeing the motorcyclist slowing down as he inched closer to the side of the road. Around that same time, they noted that they saw the officer pursing him bump into this bike. The impact of the crash caused the motorcyclist to fall to the ground.

One of those motorcyclists that waited at the light had been live streaming the group ride on Facebook Live for her friends. When she heard a police siren, she turned her camera on motorcycle pursuit. She claims that she was able to catch the whole incident on camera.

She continued to film as she and others checked in on the motorcyclist to make sure that he was okay. He wasn't, though. He suffered various injuries to his back, shoulder and leg in the crash. He was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

As motorists went over to check on him, they asked the trooper why he struck the man. He first allegedly stated that he do so to ensure that he finally stopped.

The man was released arrested and booked on charges of felony evading after he was released from the hospital. It's unclear when the internal investigation into the matter will be wrapped up.

If you've suffered debilitating injuries as a result of someone using their car as a weapon with the goal of hurting you, then a Long Beach attorney can advise you of your right to sue in your case.
